Can anyone help me with nomenclature?

Choose the longest carbon chain first. As OH doesn't contain a carbon so provide it with the smallest possible number in the longest carbon chain. You need not give it 1 always. Had it contained a carbon in it then we give the carbon of the functional group with number 1. so, 6-methyloctan-3-ol is perfectly fine.
