Can i close my laptop when its on projector mode?

I got a new HP laptop and i love it! but the screen is a little small for me so i set it up on a bigger monitor and pressed "f4" to put it on projector mode. The laptops screen is off and i have a separate keyboard hooked up so i do not need to use the laptop at all. Problem is i have limited space and would like to be able to close my laptop screen all the way without it putting itself to sleep. Is there a way i can do this?
