Keyboard won't work on my new hp laptop it keeps making click noises when i try to type and nothing shows up?

I just got this new hp pavillion ( because i love the hp pavillion line) this is my second hp laptop. When i started it for the first time (today) i tried to type and when i did, nothing showed up. instead, it makes these clicking noises every time i try to type. how do i fix this????!!!?!??!!?!?!?!
